Cemetery property refers to any land or space designated for the burial of human remains. This can include various types of plots, crypts, and niches within a cemetery. Here are some common types of cemetery property:
  1. Gravesites (Plots): Traditional burial plots in the ground where caskets are interred.
  2. Mausoleums: Above-ground structures that house multiple crypts for casketed remains.
  3. Columbariums: Structures that house niches for cremated remains (cremains).
  4. Lawn Crypts: Pre-installed underground burial chambers that allow for multiple caskets.
  5. Memorial Gardens: Specific areas within a cemetery designed for scattering ashes or placing memorial plaques.

Cemetery property can be purchased in advance or at the time of need. The purchase usually includes the right to inter remains in the property, and often includes perpetual care for maintenance of the grounds.
